The last Suttles game in the Chessgames database is this:

But it's not him though, is it?

No - whoever the "Suttles" in Suttles-Vann might be, it isn't the real one, as far as I know!

Well thank god for that. The idea of the crown prince of
hypermodernism play some ghastly d4/e3/Bd3 system fills with
me with dread...

Hi Erik,

Bucks is an English county to the west of London.

The game was played on 11th Jan 1989
The match was Bourne End 3 v Computervision. Monica Vann's opponent was Black and named D SuttON (ungraded)

Our club secretary adds the following....
The likely explanation is that a number of Monica's games were added to
an early (1990s) game exchange database. The first versions of chessbase didn't have proper library functions for names and places so game details were just stored as plain text. Various search and replace tools existed which attempted to standardise names, however as with any search and
replace tool, serious damage could result.

I'm guessing that we once had a player with a name of Suttles or similar
in Bucks - not someone I recall though. Mind you the opening suggests the
player's ECF grade probably didn't exceed 100.

I hope the book is successful.
